August 24, 2006 — It was approximately 9:30 this morning when Harold Mackey sent Linda mcdaniel outside of the safe confines of the Clinical Science Building. Equipped with only with a small video camera and the winds whipping up onto the CSB ramp, she probably would have appreciated an umbrella even more. “Go film what’s happening out on Jonathan Lucas Street!” he bellowed. Once outside, Linda found the skies to be so dark, one would think it was closer to nine o’clock at night. The rain was coming down in steady buckets, the streets already having become overwhelmed. A flash of light momentarily ripped through the sky overhead, followed by a thunderous roar one usually only hears in horror movies. To say that Jonathan Lucas Street was flooded would be an understatement. After filming stopped, things continued to get worse. Small vehicles that chose to venture through either quickly turned back around or ended up getting stuck. Oh well, they’ll be able to move again in a few hours time (even if it is likely by tow truck).
